Tenay Gonul, an Istanbul native, is guided by the belief that design can be an incredibly powerful tool in making the world a better place. Having lived and worked in different countries, she brings a unique multi-cultural perspective and draws upon this rich background to make every single project special. Tenay has expertise in large scale mixed-use projects, residential, corporate and higher education projects.
Tenay plans each design decision holistically, with an understanding of how the micro interacts with the macro. When an individual component fits harmoniously within its environment, a symbiotic relationship forms that benefits all participants involved.
Prior to leading blank design studio, Tenay worked with distinguished firms in Atlanta such as Cooper Carry and Perkins Will on complex, high design projects across the globe. Her portfolio includes large scale mixed-use developments (Main Las Olas, Inistanbul Topkapi), higher education facilities (University of Georgia, Emory University), healthcare facilities (Emory), class A office spaces and retail renovation projects.
Tenay received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Politecnico di Milano, Italy and a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning degree from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. She graduated from North Carolina State University with Masters in Architecture as a Kamphoefner Fellow. Tenay is a member of the US Green Building Council [USGBC] and an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.
